Have Thanksgiving every day!

                                     ~THE REDEEMED SINNER'S THANKS TO GOD~
~ This world is fleeting, going fast, we know beseech thee, forgive us our past, for LORD we had sinned  so great against thee, but cried we out in yet one, single plea... Save us, OH save us for you are LORD indeed.
You've restored, saved, and blessed us oh King. We thank ye, yes thank ye for without you, there would be no moment past, time now or hope for future.
So to you, O LORD, and you alone, we praise thee, we raise ye, and we thank ye.  -AMEN- ~           -BPB-

The LORD has laid on my heart today the burden for sinners, that they may not stay in their current state, nor be content in such a matter. But that they would reach for GOD's open and spread out hand. That they would receive HIM unto themselves, and one day spend all eternity with HIM.
What a great blessing it truly is that God is in supreme control, and that HE will not leave our side.
Thank GOD for HIS Many Blessings this Thanksgiving.
Better than that,
Praise ye the LORD today, tomorrow, and always.

Colonial Culture:

Culture....do you think it’s changed much since the 1700's?
Listen to the way things were back then and see if you think culture has changed.

Settlers, where they lived, what they ate, what their religious views were, what they did, and their social classes:

They lived in huts and some in caves, but later began looking more attractive and some also built log cabins. At the beginning of the 1700's huts were not made from the largest blocks, or the shiniest stones. They were made from ruff cut wood and held together with wooden pegs since nails were expensive and scarce. Then there were leather hinges and chimneys of wood and clay. WOOD!?!?! Yes, wood! But, however, after enough chimney fires they started using brick when it was available.

As time passed, colonial life began to prosper. In New York City ,bigger, better houses were being built of brick and even some stone.
One thing a house of any make, build or size was not complete with out was a fireplace. The hearth was a place where food was cooked, people warmed, and a time of great stories, pastimes and where familys would read their Bibles together.

Their meals consisted of what ever was plentiful where they lived. Whether farm animals, seafood, or hunting, what they caught, they hate. Food was abundant, but yet very simple still.

Religion. Think their rules, regulations, and beliefs were different?
In Virginia they thought playing cards and dice immoral
If you got caught not going to church you were fined 50 pounds of tobacco...a weeks wages.
Swearing  was against the law. Can you believe that? I wish it was still that way today.

One thing that I especially think is really cool is that they would have special events and holidays. A few such events would include, but not limited to: Quilting bees, corn huskings, and barn raisings.
That would always be a great, fun time of fellowship, and yet it got work done at the same time.
Also they would have things like church services, parties, weddings elections and fairs. They presented a  time to meet new people and enjoy friendships.

Transportation was usually stagecoach for travelers. However they were dangerous, uncomfortable, and weather conditions altered rides frequently with snow in the winter, mud in the spring, dust in the summer and ruts year round.

Unfortunately social classes began to develop. “Groups” were made and separation began. Wealth changed peoples status and connections, and the poor were pushed down. The bottom class was blacks , indentured servants and frontier farmers.
There is never a reason to separate people in such harsh un-fair circumstances.
This latter helped lead to slavery unfortunately.

So, do you think that our culture is really all that different from three-hundred years ago? Yes, and No.
Yes, true, traditions, gatherings and their view of God and the Bible has changed.
No, people are still prejudice  of the “lower” class people sometimes, and wealth changed who peoples friends are.

The answer then is up to you. You must make the choice for yourself.
Everyone must make his own choice.
                               What is your’s?
Chincoteague Island Virginia 2009                         10/14/09 BPB

Our trip to Chincoteague was a great adventure.

To start things off, let me tell you a little bit about Chincoteague Island Virginia. It’s a small, quaint little island. The “small town” streets, where the speed limit all-around the island is twenty-five miles per hour  or less, are sided in shops, and T-shirt factories, and trimmed with restaurants. You can ride to any part of the Island in less than twenty minutes. You can drive over to Assiteague where you can drive right up on the beach and fly a kite, go to the drive-though nature trail, see wild ponies, deer, birds of all   kinds, and get bit by MANY mosquitos.
Chincoteague is a very  fun place to go.

While we were there this fall on vacation with my Grandmother, we went up inside the red and white striped light house and could see all around, crabbed off our dock and caught some crabs for fun, but we didn’t eat them. :)
We took lots of pictures of sunsets, birds, deer, and any other wild life you can think of.
It was great to just relax and look out our kitchen window at the canal which leads out to the bay.
We went shopping at stores and went to one T-shirt factory where I got a really neat shirt that says “Chincoteague Island Virginia”  on the front and I got a decal imprinted on the back that has the Ford symbol that says “Lord” and then below it it says “Take the High Road”. I really  like it!
We went to a restaurant that made home maid pizza and ate  ice-cream at a  place called “The Island Creamery” that had about fifteen to twenty different flavors of hand scooped ice-cream. (Yum)

We went around the nature trail three  times while we were there, and went to the beach three times as well.
Some nights we’d relax and  play games, or go out for ice-cream.

On our last full day there we went for a tour on a pontoon boat. That was a Blast!
We got to see lots  of pelicans, and wild horses, a tug-boat pulling out a wrecked ship from North Carolina, and too make our  tour complete, we saw a beautiful   sun set.

So, in short, our vacation to Chincoteague Island Virginia was a fun and exciting blast!!!!!

                                 Our trip was GREAT!
